What Is the Fabrication Process & Why Frank Lowe Is a Cut Above the Rest?

While the fabrication process can be a relatively broad and ambiguous term, it embodies a variety of contract manufacturing services designed to help you move your product from conception through completion.

However, at Frank Lowe our fabrication process is predicated on our ability to best understand your needs and suggest solutions to help take you to the next level. Continue reading to learn a few of the top FAQs we receive about our fabrication process and why it’s the best.

What Does the Frank Lowe Fabrication Process Involve?

At Frank Lowe, we are a full-service contract manufacturing firm. We offer a full suite of services as a part of the fabrication process designed to improve your application and move your project from start to completion. Our fabrication process includes a variety of service — not limited to:

  • Part Design Assistance - We will assist you with part configuration as well as every other component of designing the perfect part, industrial gasket, or die cut part.
  • Expert Material Recommendations - We offer a full catalog of elastomers. However, we don't expect you to understand the qualities and capabilities of each elastomer. Instead, you tell us about your application, your goals, and we'll provide you with the optimum selection of elastomers.
  • Prototyping - With prototyping, we will rapidly create specialized prototype parts, so you can test the part in the application before mass production.
  • Long or Short Run Production - At Frank Lowe, we are know for being able to service manufacturers and customers of all sizes. Whether you're just getting started and only need a small quantity of components or if you've been around for as long as we have with extensive needs, Frank Lowe can and will help.
  • Quality Control - Ranging from raw material inspection to finished product inspection, we always maintain air tight quality control to make sure your component is created to your exact specifications.

Simply put, our fabrication process is flexible enough to deliver the on-the-demand services you need — when you need it.

Does Frank Lowes’ Fabrication Process Deliver Cost Savings?

Hiring and setting up full-time, in-house personnel to focus on the fabrication process can be extremely expensive. In addition to the specialized skills required, you'll need to purchase the specialized equipment and tools.

However, when you partner with Frank Lowe for contract manufacturing, you'll enjoy significant cost savings due to our economies of scale. We utilize a state-of-the-art fabrication process, innovative equipment, and more than 65 years of experience.

What Is the Die Cutting Fabrication Process?

Die cutting is a fabrication process where a significant volume of identical shapes are rapidly produced from a nonmetallic elastomer. This fabrication process is performed on highly specialized equipment that uses a specific die and sharp cutting equipment to create virtually any desired shape from:

The die cutting fabrication process allows for the fast creation of uniformed products to be used in mass production capacities. You also have options to have individual pieces cut from a roll or sheet as well as kiss cuts to improve production speed.

What Is Kiss Cutting and When Should I Choose It?

Kiss cutting is a type of die cutting where the elastomer or parts are fully cut through - without cutting the adhesive laminated paper liner or backing. Kiss cutting got its name due to the fact the components are fully cut through, but the die gently "kisses" the backing paper without cutting through it.

Kiss cut components with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing (peel-and-stick) is an excellent way to improve the overall assembly process. Most of our customers who choose kiss cut components enjoy:

  • Components that are easier to handle
  • Faster assembly
  • Reduced labor costs
  • Ample flexibility
  • And more

Why Choose Custom Lamination Fabrication Services?

Lamination is usually the best way to make sure the industrial gasket or die cut component functions as intended. In addition to protective lamination services, Frank Lowe can laminate a variety of materials combining rubber, adhesives, as well as:

  • Felt
  • Textiles
  • Rubbers
  • Plastics
  • Foams

Our custom lamination fabrication services are the perfect solution whenever you're looking to maintain the integrity of your product.
